Pass the pomegranates... Hope for arthritis Pomegranate extract has shown promise in combating arthritis in a study carried out at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. In laboratory experiments, the extract was shown to inhibit the overproduction of enzymes that lead to cartilage damage. The verdict Pomegranates certainly look promising, although at this stage, many of the studies designed to test their efficacy have been carried out on cell cultures or animals and not yet on humans.
